Centrality dependence of high-$p_{\rm T}$ D meson suppression in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 2.76 TeV

The centrality dependence of the production of the prompt charm mesons D0, D*+, D+, and their anti-particles, was measured with the ALICE detector in Pb-Pb collisions at a center of mass energy sqrt(sNN) = 2.76 TeV in four pT intervals, in the region 2-3 GeV/c a centrality dependence of the nuclear modification factor, RAA, was found for all the D meson species with a maximum suppression of about factor five in the 10% most central collisions. In the pT region 2 < pT < 3 GeV/c, there is an indication of constant suppression as a function of centrality. A comparison with the centrality dependent RAA of non-prompt J/Psi measured by CMS collaboration indicates a larger suppression of the D mesons in particular for the two most central classes.
