Forum on Tracking Detector Mechanics, CERN 3-4 July 2012

This is the first announcement for the 'Forum on Tracking Detector Mechanics' to be held at CERN, 3-4 July 2012 in the BE Auditorium, Room 6-2-024. It would be a pleasure for us to welcome you at CERN to this event.

The goal of this forum is an exchange of experience obtained during the design, construction installation of the current LHC tracking detectors. Evaluation of where ample or insufficient emphasis was put, problems encountered as well as excellent solutions found in order to improve performance and reliability of future tracking detectors.

REGISTRATION:

We would appreciate if you could use the online Registration form on the Forum home page:

https://indico.cern.ch/confRegistrationFormDisplay.py?confId=192033

The forum will be limited to a maximum of 120 participants.

topics related to the LHC physics. As usual, the school is
particularly addressed to students, with stimulating discussions with the

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF SUBNUCLEAR PHYSICS
50th Course: WHAT WE WOULD LIKE LHC TO GIVE US
Erice, 23 June - 2 July 2012
50th Anniversary Celebrations 2011-2012-2013

This Course will be the second of the three devoted to the celebrations
of the 50th Anniversary of the Subnuclear Physics School which was started
in 1961 by Antonino Zichichi with John Bell at CERN and formally established
in 1962 by Bell, Blackett, Weisskopf, Rabi and Zichichi in Geneva (CERN);
the first course being at Erice in 1963. This is why the celebrations
will last three years.

The EMFCSC has decided to give special funds for the three years celebrations
of the 50th Anniversary. These funds will be devoted each year to the
selection of 50 excellent fellows by the board of Invited Scientists and
Lecturers.

The lectures will be, as usual, fully devoted to the latest and most
significant achievements in theoretical and in experimental physics.

Jardin de Capucine- short term child care - also for users!

Dear Colleagues,

The “Jardin de Capucine”, a new childcare facility built exclusively for CERN personnel, including users, has opened its doors on 1 November 2011. It is very conveniently located at only a few hundred meters from CERN entrance E, and it offers childcare facilities for children from 4 months up to 4 years of age.

CERN Management has specifically earmarked 4 places (of the 40 available) for short term child care. Short term should be understood as any period of one week to up to 3 months. A place and can be booked in advance for any period in 2012 by contacting directly the crèche. Places will be allocated on a first come/first served basis.

These 4 places have now been available for a few months, but none has ever been used. It is clear that should this situation continue, this short term child care will be discontinued.

Do not hesitate to directly contact the “Jardin de Capucine” if you need more information.
